Naysayer

Naysayer

“It concerns many people that our brains are not able to adjust to the changing technology we have and that they cannot handle the digital distractions we are faced with. However, our brains are wired to adjust with our environment, thus, they change along with technology and distractions that come with it. Restak states, “Our brain literally changes its organization and functioning to accommodate the abundance of stimulation forced on it by the modern world” (Restak). This shows that our brains are able to adapt to what is exposed to, and that is extremely relevant to this idea of ADD/ADHD. Because these disorders are most likely the result of our brain’s adaptation to our evolving world of technology, they are not necessarily something to fear.”

You can see in this paragraph I have written that the naysayer is “it concerns many people that our brains are not able to adjust to the changing technology we have and that they cannot handle the digital distractions we are faced with.” I use this counterargument to help build my stance by explaining why this shouldn’t be a concern. By pointing out one of the arguments against my paper, I take away the opportunity for skeptical readers to point it out first.
